Seat Sale for Labor Day 2012: Cebu Pacific and Air Philippines

Tomorrow, May 1, is Labor Day, and, there's going to be seat sales for both Cebu Pacific and Air Philippines.  Yay!  Totoro-line wave!

UPDATES:
Cebu Pacific's promo has a 90% off on the base price of their domestic and regcional flights.  It means, the fuel surcharge remains the same.  So, a roundtrip ticket to Incheon will still yield an almost Php 7,000.00 price.  Promo period is from May 1 to May 2; travel period is from September 1 to December 15.
As for Air Philippines, their P1 fare refers to the base fare as well and it covers flights from Cebu and Clark, and Php 288 base fare for their Manila outbound flights.   Promo period is from May 1 to 3; Travel period is from May 16 to July 31.

     Cebu Pacific posted this teaser:

On the other hand, Air Philippines tweeted this:

So, it's possibly an 80% off from Cebu Pacific perhaps for flights until December or even beyond, and Php 1.00 base fare for Air Philippines' domestic flights.  Most likely, both seat sales shall commence at 12 midnight.

Good luck and happy travel planning!

Thoughts: PAL Slashes Fares to Selected Destinations Up to 70% Off On-Site the 19th Travel Tour Expo

ETA:  I went to the Expo and found out that the ticket prices being offered by PAL only cover the base fare.  Thus, it excludes surcharges and taxes.  For a round trip ticket to Manila-Delhi, PAL quoted us USD 472 (base fare plus taxes and surcharges) plus USD 30 for the travel tax.

     Lifted from PAL's website:

Promos at TravelTour Expo
Visit the Philippine Airlines booth at the 19th TravelTour Expo and enjoy great discount on domestic and international tickets. The Expo runs February 17-19, 2012 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City.
Promotional deals available during the TravelTour Expo:
  •     Up to 70% off on airfares on selected domestic and regional routes
  •     Up to 30% off on airfares on selected US/Canada routes
  •     A chance to win round-trip tickets to Las Vegas
  •     Other exciting surprises
These offers are only available at the Travel Expo site.
Visit philippineairlines.com/promos for other promos or call PAL Reservations in Manila: (02) 855-8888 for other inquiries.

Wondering which selected flights?  Domestic tickets will go as low as Php 555 and Php 777 one-way, depending on the destination and travel period, the farthest date being 15 August 2012.

For regional and international flights, prices for roundtrip, economy class tickets are as follows:

  •  US$30 to Bangkok and Singapore;
  • US$67 to Hong Kong, Macau and Saigon;
  • US$117 to Delhi; US$327 to Melbourne and Sydney;
  • US$337 to Honolulu; and
  •  US$507 to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Vancouver
I am actually interested with PAL's Delhi flights.  However, I am not sure if USD 117 is just for the base price exclusive of surcharges and taxes.  You see, it's around USD 360 for Delhi on surcharges and taxes alone, not including the Php 1620 travel tax.  I'd be really disappointed if USD 117 is just the base price.

Anyway, the details can be found here:
70% off on PAL tickets at Travel Expo
Up to 70 percent discount on selected domestic and international tickets is being offered by Philippine Airlines (PAL) exclusively at the 19th Travel Tour Expo 2012, to be held February 17-19 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
One way, domestic tickets will go as low as P777 to any PAL destination in Luzon, Visayas or Mindanao for travel between February 21 to March 21, 2012; P1,000 to Luzon or Visayas and P2,000 to Mindanao for travel between March 22 to May 31, 2012; and P555 to Luzon or Visayas and P777 to Mindanao for travel between June 1 to August 15, 2012.
Meanwhile, roundtrip, economy class tickets will just be for US$30 to Bangkok and Singapore; US$67 to Hong Kong, Macau and Saigon; US$117 to Delhi; US$327 to Melbourne and Sydney; US$337 to Honolulu; and US$507 to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Vancouver.
Also, all Mabuhay Miles Y Flyer members get a 10% discount on domestic and regional tickets, except for Australia and Japan, upon presentation of their membership card at the PAL booth.
Fares are exclusive of government taxes, fees and surcharges. Booking and selling period is from 17-19 February 2012 only.
PAL is one of the major sponsors of the Travel Expo organized annually by the Philippine Travel Agencies Association in cooperation with the Department of Tourism.
Those purchasing the deeply discounted tickets also get a chance to win free regional and international tickets during a daily raffle.
Tickets purchased from the PAL booth or any participating travel agents entitle the passenger to a raffle coupon. Three (3) winners will be drawn daily from February 17 to 19 at the PAL booth.
Prizes may be claimed at PAL's Advertising & Promotions office, PNB Financial Center, Diosdado Macapagal Ave., Pasay City, upon presentation of the PAL e-ticket and raffle coupon.
The annual expo – dubbed the ultimate shopping destination for best travel deals – gets more than 60,000 visitors to the more than 450 booths from more than 200 companies.
This year's expo has the theme: 19th Travel Tour Expo: One Stop Shop to the World!

Cebu Pacific's #JuanForFun [20 January 2012 at 12:01 A.M.]

UPDATE:

It's official, it's a seat sale!
PISO Fare on ALL local and international destinations and it starts NOW!
Travel Period is from June 1 to December 15, 2012.
But geez, it's really hard to penetrate Cebu Pacific's website as of now.  Really, really congested.  Oh well.

Via Twitter and Facebook, Cebu Pacific posted a teaser on their upcoming promo for 20 January 2012 which it called, #JuanForFun.  Details will follow at exactly 12:01 am tomorrow.

This is possibly for a seat sale promo.  Usually, the super seat sales by Cebu Pacific starts at around 12 midnight, much like the big sale of Air Asia.  Probably, this is for a Piso fare, or for a super seat sale for travel from May 2012 onwards.

On the other hand, it may just be for a game, like the Fly One, Fly All, Fly Free contest of Cebu Pacific last year.  I checked my blog and I found that it was launched early January last year, 12 January 2011 to be exact.

Anyway, I am hoping that this # JuanForFun is a seat sale promo.  *fingers crossed*

     Stay tuned, stay up late!

Seat Sale: Air Asia's Big Sale [21 September to 25 September 2011]

Save the date!  In a couple of hours, at exactly 00:00 GMT +8 on 21 September 2011, Air Asia will be having its BIG SALE promo! However, I think it's only for its Asian destinations.  Travel period is from 03 May 2012 to 27 October 2012.  See the promo poster below and check out Air Asia's website for details.

     Happy trip planning!

12 August 2011

Seat Sale: Air Philippines' Buy One Take One Promo

Air Philippines is having a seat sale promo, BUY ONE TAKE ONE on ALL DESTINATIONS EXCEPT FOR CATICLAN and BUSUANGA.  Promo period is from 12 August 2011 to 14 August 2011.  Travel period is from 15 January 2012 to 31 March 2012 and 15 June 2012 to 15 July 2012. Free tickets must be redeemed on or before 28 August 2011.  The free tickets are exclusive of taxes and surcharges, BTW.

I am still trying to figure out this promo, that is, if I'm going to make a huge savings or not, but I'll make updates later.

UPDATES:
I've tried mock booking for January 27 to 30, 2012, MLA to SG, roundtrip.  My total for one ticket is almost Php 9,000.  So, if I exchange it for a free ticket, I'd pay the following for taxes and surcharges, amounting to Php 3,211.00, for the free ticket:
Pax Service Chrg  483.00
Pax Security Serv Chrg  278.00
Aviation Levy  212.00
Fuel Surcharge  2126.00
Service Fee Charge 112.00
I say so because the promo states: "Free ticket is EXCLUSIVE of Taxes, Fees and Surcharges and will be collected from the passenger."  And the following fees are included on the "paid" ticket as per Air Philippines mock booking I made.

So, if your ticket costs a total of, say Php 6987.00 for MLA-SG roundtrip for 22 June to 25 June 2012 travel, with fare base for Php 1,888.00 each way, add up the SURCHARGES and TAXES amounting to PHP 3,211.00, you'll end up paying for  Php 10,198.00 for both the "paid" and the "free" tickets, or for about Php 5,099.00 per person.  It's not really a bad deal, but it's also not a great deal.  I think a Php 5,099.00 RT tickets to Singapore is fair, considering that Air Philippines has free baggage and their terminal is at Terminal 2 of Changi Airport.  However, I also think that for a booking that you will probably use, at the very least, four (4) away, or up to eleven (11) months away, it's a little more than I expected.  See, I bought my MLA-SG tickets from Air Philippines last January for a June/July booking for just Php 3,000.00 per person.

Anyway, here are the details from the AirPhils website:

Buy One Take One PROMO.

MECHANICS AND CONDITIONS:

  1. Passengers are entitled to a “ FREE TICKET ” every ticket purchased from 12-14 AUG 2011.
  2.  Promo offer is not valid for flights to/from Caticlan (MPH) and Busuanga (USU).
  3. Domestic and International tickets cannot be combined in one (1) ticket. Separate ticket issuance must be observed.
  4. Free ticket may be issued to another person for a different route or maybe used by the same person for a different route or for his/her return flight. Limited seats only for Free ticket per flight.
  5. Free ticket is EXCLUSIVE of Taxes, Fees and Surcharges and will be collected from the passenger.
  6. Free ticket is NON-REFUNDABLE, NON-REBOOKABLE.
  7. Passenger must present valid ID and the purchased ticket when claiming for the Free Ticket from Airphil Express Ticket Offices only. Once Free ticket is redeemed, regular ticket purchased will all also become NON- REFUNDABLE.
  8. Redemption period is until 28 AUG 2011 only. No claims for Free ticket will be honored after this date. Travel Period for Free ticket is the same travel period covered by the promo (15 JAN – 31 MAR 2012 / 15 JUN-15 JUL 2012).

08 August 2011

Seat Sale: PAL's Fly Pilipinas Promo

Remember PAL's Fly Asia promo which started last week?  Then, you'd be happy to know that there's a new promo, this time, for a tour of the wonderful Philippine islands!  And that's PAL's Fly Pilipinas promo.

I am quite excited about this one.  After all, hopping from one island to another in the Philippines is tiring and costly, too.  But with PAL's Fly Asia promo, I just hope we could all get a good bargain to roam the Philippines.

But then again, I'm having second thoughts about this promo.  After all, the Php 7,070.00 for Fiesta class refers only to the FARE, and does not include taxes and surcharges such as: Aviation Security Fee, Ticketing Service Charge and VAT for every ticket redeemed. Of course, you still have to pay for the terminal fee of Php 200.00.

31 July 2011

Philippine Airlines Promo: 12 Cities. 7 Weeks. Unlimited Travel. Only with FLY ASIA PASS!

N.B. Updated with FAQs from the PAL website.

I am quite baffled by this one, but it is a good deal if you're planning to visit all these countries listed here.  You'll just have to pay USD 270 for your FLY ASIA PASS and exchange them for tickets within two weeks.  The catch?  It is not inclusive of taxes and surcharges and you must complete your travel within seven weeks from day of first departure.  Travelling period is from 15 August to 30 December 2011 (outbound) and up to 10 December 2011 for inbound flights.  So, if you're intending to fly to Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong and Taiwan, your itinerary and fares will look like this:

10 July 2011

Air Philippines' Seat Sale - MLA to SG (10 July to 11 July 2011)

Air Philippines has a seat sale for their Manila to Singapore flights starting today until tomorrow!  Travel period is from 20 July to 30 August 2011.  I made a mock booking and it's almost Php 6,600.00 round trip per person.  The base fare is really low but the fuel surcharge, taxes and fees make the amount a lot bigger.  However, the flights are for July and August, and the fare is not such a bad deal.  Although there is the possibility that you might get cancelled flights because its our typhoon season now.

Philippine Airlines' Seat Sale - Downpour Deals (11 July to 16 July 2011)

Philippine Airlines will have a Downpour Deals seat discounts for its domestic, regional and international flights.  And here's the list for the regional flights from PAL's website:

Air Asia's Seat Sale - A Big Thank You! (12 July 2011 at 12:00 PM)

Air Asia is gearing up for a BIG THANK YOU this coming Tuesday, 12 July 2011 at 12 p.m. (GMT +8).  I think it's really, really big.  Air Asia's Facebook page lists the booking and travel period as follows:
Booking period: 12 – 17 July 2011Travel period: 6 Feb – 20 June 2012
And when the booking period is 6 months or more before the travel period, tickets tend to be really, really cheap.  So, plan ahead and enjoy!

As for me, I want to go to India in February, and Cambodia, too.  Plus, I want to go to Europe, but probably around May or June, I'll just wait for the seat sale for autumn or winter travel to Europe.

     Happy trip planning!

28 March 2011

Air Philippines Express First Anniversary Domestic Seat Sale [28 March until seats last]

Air Philippines Express is having its First Anniversary Sale!  All domestic Airbus 320 destinations are on sale from today until seats last!  Hurry, it's only for Php 100.00, one-way.  100,000 seats are up for grab.

Travel is from 01 June 2011 to 15 February 2012.

Check our Airphils' website for details here - http://www.airphils.com/

21 February 2011

Air Asia's Seatsale - Bigger than Big [22 to 27 February 2011]

Air Asia will have a Bigger than Big Sale on 22 February 2011 [GMT +8].  Travel period is from 13 September 2011 to 29 February 2012.  So, people, when the clock strikes 00:00, get ready to grab seats for your chosen destinations.  Based on Air Asia's tweets, tickets for Laos is definitely going to be on sale, East Malaysia and India.*  I'm not sure with the other destinations but they might be on sale, too.  Otherwise, what's the need for a Big Sale with a countdown clock if it doesn't involve all destinations, right?

By the way, isn't the picture above hilarious?  Lol!

I am contemplating on going to Japan in the fall, so I'm hoping for a seat sale to Tokyo.  Plan well, people!  Happy travel planning!
